Mombasa Beach Hotels - Top 10 beach Hotels in Mombasa Kenya

1. Voyager Beach Resort

The nautical theme is possibly stretched abit far, but voyager can happily cruise through life on its deserved reputation as Nyali’s best luxury resort. Facilities are comprehensive, prices are all inclusive, staff are well drilled, the grounds are huge and the beach is right there-if you actually have any time for it between everything else. Prices at the Voyager Mombasa beach Resort range from US$185/260 for s/d in low season to US$ 230/310 for high season.

2. Nyali Beach Hotel

Located at the southern end of the beach, this is Voyager’s main competition, managing to take up even more space and offer even more facilities-you’d practically have to stay for a week just to try all the different restaurants and bars. The Sunday poolside barbeques are surprisingly good value at Kshs 650. Price range at the Nyali Beach Hotel are US$118/147 for s/tw and US$ 184/234 for the high season.

3. Nyali Beach Holiday Resorts

A good option if you want the Kenyan Beach experience without the European price tag. It’s less luxurious than the other resorts around here, but you will still get a restaurant, bar and games room, and the self-catering cottages (one to three bedrooms) work well for groups. Reception helpfully shows the time in Helsinki for any disoriented Finns who happen by. The price tags at the Nyali beach Holiday resorts are Kshs 3500/5800 for s/d low season, Kshs 4500/6800 for high season and cottages from Kshs 5500.

4. Bahari Beach Hotel

Germans on all inclusive packages form the core clientele at this low-slung makuti complex, which makes good design use of the coral rocks that separate it from the beach. The cave-like Italian restaurant is particularly nice feature. Prices for Bahari Beach Hotel range from Kshs 4700/7100 s/d for low season and Kshs 5500/8100 for high season.

5. Fisherman’s Leisure inn

Reached via a turnoff just before the Nova shopping centre, this is a quiet, friendly Indian-run guest house with an attractive Moorish foyer and well-appointed tiled rooms. The lobster Pot restaurant provides meals on site. Walk through the reef Hotel to get to the Mombasa beach. Prices here range from Kshs 2000/2800 s/d in low season and Kshs 3500/4200 in the high season.

6. Reef Hotel

This rather faded Hotel seems to be going for club Med vibe, though some of the facilities look a little aged. Luckily the interior is much better kept, and the relatively down-to earth rates make it popular with Kenyans as well as foreign tourists. Prices at the reef range from US$ 59/88 for s/d in low season and US$ 68/115 in the high season.

7. Glory Villas

The only vaguely budget option for miles, this entry in the Glory empire is a complex of odd conical towers behind the Nova shopping centre. There’s a prayer room for the devout and VIP’s in NO. 34 can dine out on some hilarious 1970s furniture. If the long list of things not to do is anything to go by, the management doesn’t have much faith in their staff-you’re even advised not to leave valuables at reception! Nyali beach is a 15 minute walk away. Price range here is Kshs 800 for a s and Kshs 1200-2000 d, cottages Kshs 3000.

Kenya airways; Discount Kenya airway Flights on African airline

Kenya Airways aims to grow into a decidedly dominant African airline with a notable presence in Asia, Europe and the America’s while operating a modern fleet of new airplanes. Kenya Airways was already on pace to become a world-class network airline for its flights to Africa and Kenya by 2005.

Kenya Airline’s growing fleet

Despite the downturn in the aviation industry caused by events in 2001, the last three years have been a period of continued growth and innovation for Kenya Airways.

The Kenyan airline began its growth spurt with delivery of its first Boeing 767-300ER followed by 2 additional 767s in June and July of 2001. In 2002, the flights to Kenya carrier renewed its regional fleet with the addition of four new 737-700s, making Kenya Airways the first African airline in Sub-Saharan Africa to operate 737-700 with blended winglets, retiring its last A310.

The Boeing 777s specs

The 777 is the most technologically advanced airplane in the world and is available in 5 models: the 777-200, a 777-200ER (extended range), a larger 777-300 as well as two as two longer ranger models, the 777-200LR and the 777-300ER. The 777s seat from 301 up to 368 passengers in a three-class configuration with a range of 5,210 nautical miles (9,649 km) in the 777-200 to 9,280 nautical miles (16,983km) for the 777-200lr (longer range).

The growth of Kenya Airways

As African passenger flights traffic to Kenya continues to grow, so does the need for airplanes that offer more range, carry more passengers and that offer an improved level of comfort.

Kenya Airways is naturally following the growth path of many other long-haul carriers in the industry by improving its regional and international flights to Kenya routes. Passenger demand is creating the need for more frequency of flights and point-to-point routes to and from Kenya. With its new 767-300ERs and the recently acquired 777-200ER, Kenya Airways is improving its long-haul flight route networks from Nairobi to London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Mumbai, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

Kenya Airways Partnerships

Kenya Airways has grown its partnership with KLM, Northwest airlines, Precision Airlines, East African Airlines and Air Malawi, giving passengers a choice of flight destinations in Europe, Middle East, Asia and the Americas. Not only are these partnerships beneficial to the passengers, the relationships also connect Kenya Airways to many global distribution networks that benefit its daily business operations. Kenya Airways continues to expand its flights to Kenya and Africa with partnerships and extending its route networks with the addition of new Boeing 777.

The U.S Awards for the 777 jetliner

On May 30, 1995, the 777 became the first airplane in aviation history to earn U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to fly 180-minute extended range twin engine operations (ETOPS) at service entry. On May 4, 1998, the 777-300 achieved another historic milestone by becoming the first commercial airplane to receive type certification and 180-minute ETOPS approval on the same day.

The new distinct look of Premier Class

Kenya Airways new Premier Class flat bed seats are giving passengers more comfort on long haul routes especially those taking their flights to Kenya. It also includes large overhead compartments to provide passengers with increased stowage capacity. Out bound as well as centre stowage units are designed to open downward for convenient loading. When closed, they allow ample overhead clearance.

In-flight Service system

For improved more efficient in-flight service, Kenya Airways 777s are equipped with an advanced cabin management system. Linked to a computerized control console, the cabin management system assists flight cabin crews with many tasks and allows airlines to provide new services for passengers to and from Kenya, including a digital sound system comparable to the most state of the art home stereo or disc players.

The 777 Awards

The industrial Design Excellence award was awarded to the passenger cabin of the new Boeing 777 jetliner, the first time the industrial Designers Society of America honored an airplane interior.

A world-wide survey of passengers on flight in long-range routes in first, business and economy classes revealed an overwhelming preference for the 777. The survey found that more than three out of four flight passengers who had flown aboard both the 777 and the airbus A330/340 airplanes preferred the Boeing 777.

The airline of the Year… i.e. 4 years in a row

Over the last three years, Kenya Airways was awarded the Kenyan airline of the year by the African Aviation, Africa’s leading flight industry journal for its continuous improvements of its products and services and upholding the highest safety standards of its products.

Kenya Airways is the National airline of the republic of Kenya operating scheduled flights in regional and international passenger, cargo and mail services from Nairobi to Europe, India, Asia and the Middle East.

Things To Take With You On Safari In Tanzania

There are several types of holiday options in Tanzania, ranging from a week or two relaxing on the idyllic beaches to the adventurous treks up Mt Kilimanjaro. When you go on safari in Tanzania there are several things which will greatly help to ensure your enjoyment of your safari. Before going read as much as you can about Tanzania. Described below is a list of items that you may find useful whilst on safari.

Basic items of clothing (such as t-shirts) can be bought in even the most remote villages, so you can afford to pack light. Below is a brief list of a few essential items:

A Sun hat, ideally wide brimmed if you are going on a game viewing safari or hike.

This serves to protect your head from scrapes as you walk in the bush as well as preventing burning. The brim also helps if you are in the rain! A Tilly hat is best.

Sun screen is essential as are good quality sun glasses for the beach or the mountain where it is very bright. Though be aware that it is best to remove your shades when talking to local people.

Insect repellent or long trousers and sleaved shirts for the evening. Be aware that products containing DEET are the most effective but do have a tendency to melt certain plastics.

A solid pair of walking shoes or boots (even if you are not going hiking).

Sandals or something similar. It is possible to buy flip-flops very cheaply in almost every village.

Binoculars are essential especially if you are heading out game viewing. Get the best ones you can afford it's so worth it!

- A week's s supply of underwear. Cotton is best.

- A good book or two.

- Torch and spare batteries.

- You don't need to bring Mosquito nets as they are cheaply available here.

- A small towel

The clothes you need depend on what you intend to do. For hiking activities you will need good quality trousers, a shirt or t-shirt and maybe even a jumper or fleece if you are heading up where it may be cold. Shorts are not always practical for hiking as there may be rough grasses which can irritate your skin. You will need specialist gear if you intend to hike up Kilimanjaro, which can be hired for the trip.

On game drives you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. It is best to stick to subtle lighter colours. If you have fair skin it is a good idea to always have a long sleeved shirt at hand for sun protection. It can be surprisingly cool on the mornings, especially when you are perched on top of your safari vehicle moving through the bush, so a light windbreak jacket or fleece will be useful.

If you are venturing out on an extended camping safari then you will need to bring along several changes of clothes. It will usually be possible to get laundry done along the way, but it helps if your clothes are made from quick drying fabrics, denim should be avoided. Camping shops are now full of hi-spec gear that is designed to keep you cool and dries in minutes. In some locations long sleeves and trousers are recommended for evening wear to avoid insect bites.

Wild Things will supply all camping equipment. You may want to bring your own sleeping bag or sheet.

Be Respectful

Tanzanian' s large Muslim population mainly live around the coastal regions and on the islands. However it is still important to dress decently when in any town or village, even inland. Women should cover their knees and shoulders and avoid low revealing tops. Skirts are considered more conventional than trousers. It is also more respectable for a man to wear trousers rather than shorts, and it is not acceptable to walk around in public without a shirt. When staying in a National Park or Reserve, at a lodge or camp site, it is acceptable to wear shorts and sleeveless tops.

Finally a word about the weather. This can't be predicted so remember that though Tanzania has a pleasant tropical climate. Hotter and humid along the coast (expect daytime temperatures of about 30'c), it becomes more comfortable as you move inland. Some areas lying at altitudes above 1000m are quite cool, and even surprisingly chilly at night, so a warm fleece or jacket may be needed. July, August and September tend to be the cooler months, with February usually being the hottest.

Most of the rainfall occurs between November and May, split into two rainy seasons. The short rains start in November and last 4 to 6 weeks. Long rains usually begin in around March and continue through until the end of May. However the rains have been somewhat erratic in the past couple of years.

If you plan to visit in the 'green' season then be prepared for some heavy (torrential) showers. This does make for good game viewing however with elephants having mud baths etc.

Visit Wild Things Tanzania Safaris for more information on visiting the Serengeti..

Sydney & Surrounds

Sydney is on the international map as being one of the most attractive cities in Australia, and with landmarks such as the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the beautiful Darling Harbour, it is a great base to see the city and the surrounding countryside.

New South Wales has amazing contrasting landscapes and attractions, and many of these are accessible from the capital city. It seems that every landmark is a starting point for exploring another, and there are a lot of landmarks! Sydney is also a stopover for those driving to the ski slopes south from Canberra, or the Blue Mountains close to an hour inland.

The climate has been likened to Mediterranean temperatures, with no major extremes in weather. Mid summer can sizzle to over 30 degrees, but winter chills are bearable as long as you stay rugged up.

The city centre is a metropolis of blended cultures, foods and sights. The sightseeing options are endless, but most travellers begin on the harbour at the Sydney Opera House. Known as one of the wonders of the world, it is a photographers dream, and at every angle is dazzling.

There is a huge choice of accommodation available in the city and its surrounds.Darling Harbour is also famous for its restaurants and four star hotels that line the stretch of the harbour, and with parks, shops and the IMAX theatre, it is the perfect base a Sydney visit.

Under the just as famous Sydney Harbour Bridge is the Rocks shopping district, which is likened to an outdoor museum as it is one of the oldest features of the city. You will need at least a half day to wander through the alleys and side streets to take in everything the shops have to offer.

On the other side of the harbour is another must do, the Taronga Park Zoo. With an amazing collection of native animals, including lions and giraffes, it is rare to find a zoo with such a view as Darling Harbour and the city skyline. The ferry ride is almost as enjoyable as the zoo, with fantastic sights on all sides. On your return you can't miss the Sydney Aquarium, also teeming with life under the water, and filled with aquatic displays that will take your breath away.

The Royal Botanic Gardens are within walking distance of the Opera House, and are a perfect place for a picnic lunch, with majestic trees and brilliant flower displays open to the public all year. After lunch you may have the energy towalk to Sydney Tower, the highest point above the citywith 360 degree unforgettable views from the mountains to the sea.

Further out, Manly is one of Sydneys beach suburbs, and skirts the Sydney Harbour National Park. There are lookouts along the coast route, and further along North Head Lookout rewards you with panoramic views of the city.

Driving inland from the city, a popular day trip is to the famous Blue Mountains National Park, known for its amazing rock formation, The Three Sisters. It takes about 90 minutes to get there, and also has camping facilities, swimming holes, fishing and bushwalking trails. One thing to remember is you must bring your own water.

Alternatively, the Royal National park is just over 30km south of Sydney, and holds the impressive title as the worlds second oldest park. Although not large, it has diverse attractions, with walking, cycling tracks, beaches, forests and rich vegetation making this an unforgettable experience.

The beauty of driving instead of touring is you choose where you want to go, and how you do it. Travelling around the Sydney district is just as enjoyable on foot or from the comforts of your vehicle, and it cant be done in just a few days. You will need to either stay for a while to take in all the sights, or plan to come back again as the choices are endless, and the memories will last a lifetime.

Alexandria, the Eternal Melting Pot

Like today, the city of Alexander was always gathering the elite of the cosmopolitans from every country.

A strange destiny followed the city that was founded by the Macedonian conqueror after his initiation in the mysteries of Ammon Ra at Siwah. The city was not truly Egyptian; it was neither Greek, nor Roman, nor Jewish, despite the fact that they all were present here along with Persians, Phoenicians, Aramaeans, Carians, Yemenites, Meroites from Ancient Sudan, Arabs and Indians. The Romans were correct to call the city Alexandria ad Aegyptum, next to Egypt, not of Egypt!

Many thought of the selection of the location as a marvel; not without reason to some extent. At the very gates of Egypt, standing in the area Ramses III had fought and vanquished the Sea Peoples almost 800 years before Alexander founded it, Alexandria seems to be the crossing point between East and the West par excellence. It all came to happen however within a context of historical continuity. Darius, the Achaemenidian Shah of Iran, while ruling as a Pharaoh, after his predecessor, Cambyses, invaded Egypt 525 BCE, reopened the famous Suez Canal of the Antiquity that assured the linkage between the fluvial and the maritime navigation. This way he made easy the aquatic transportation from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.

Despite the taxes collected by the Qataban Yemenites at the area of the Red Sea straits, the notorious Bab al Mandeb, the trade with the East was developed, because the Yemenites, legendary Oriental seafarers, discovered the monsoons and the other meteorological and oceanographic secrets of the Indian Ocean, assuring therefore contacts with the Eastern coast of Africa and India. Octavian sent a maritime expedition as far as Yemen to assure low taxes and to have the trade increased.

At the other side, Phoenicians and Anatolians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans, Jews and Aramaeans were assuring trade links in the Wadj Ur, the Great Green, as the Egyptians were calling the Mediterranean Sea. Where would they all meet, if not in Alexandria? If we now add the Africans, mostly represented by the people of Meroe, we get the picture.

Many came to Egypt to study and investigate the heights of the Ancient Egyptian Civilisation, as well as the exotic character of the African nature. In an expanding world, Alexandria became easily a faraway basis for even further adventures; Eratosthenes worked here to move to Syene/Aswan and specify that the Equator crossed that city. Strabo followed the Roman expedition to Meroe reporting about the Mountain of the Moon (Kilimanjaro?) as source of the Nile! And the Palmyrene merchants, who were crossing the land route through Persia, Bactriana (Afghanistan) and Sogdiana (Uzbekistan) to China, came to Alexandria and the city served as basis for them to expand business in Upper Egypt, where the founded Kaine Polis, the "New City", Qena.

All crossed Alexandria and all changed their minds here; the exchange of ideas made the city a cradle of religions and philosophies; Philo of Alexandria attempted to place the entire Ancient Hebrew religion within a Greek philosophical frame and to diffuse it among the Greeks and the Romans. Poimandres, the Holy Book of the Hermetic Gnosticism, was also written here; so Alexandria, and not Makkah, is the first place were people believed that a book was written by God Himself, in this case named Hermes Trismegistus, as an unbelievable phenomenon of syncretism between the Egyptian Djhawty (Thot) and the Greek Hermes.

The anonymous Alexandrian author of the Periplus of the Red Sea traveled a lot and wrote here, during the reign of Nero, offering to posterity a perfect sample of the then guides of navigation and reporting on the trade down to the coast of today's Tanzania, and further on to India, Palaisimundu (Sri Lanka), Chryse (the "Golden": Indochina and Indonesia) and China.

Cosmas Indicopleustes, the Syrian Aramaean Monophysite Christian of the 6th century came to Alexandria, after traveling to Soqotra and to Sri Lanka, and wrote his Christian Topography. And the largest saved Manichaeist text, Pistis Sophia, was also written here, in Coptic, despite the fact that Mani lived in Iran and his followers, the Manawiyah, were powerful in other countries and places, like Tunisia, Central Asia and China!

Alexandria was just one of the 33 synonymous cities Alexander the Great allegedly founded; but before 100 years passed after his death, it was already sure that this Alexandria was the Unique. The story of its unique radiation continued in the Islamic times. Have you got any doubt that Gawhar al Siqilli saw first Alexandria, when coming to Egypt? Jewish philosophers and travelers, like Ibn Maimoun and Benjamin of Tudela, so friendly to the Muslims at those days, spent time and thought in Alexandria, before reaching the philosophical schools of al Qahira….

The story brings us back to our times with Napoleon and his Savants who came to study the Greatness that it was and the Splendour that it has been. We can still see Europeans moving around the now lost Needle of Cleopatra. Lepsius, the famous Prussian scholar who climbed up to the Khufu Pyramid and then moved down to Karima in Sudan and transported colossal Meroitic statues to Berlin in the 1840s, crossed Alexandria too. We still hear Italian, Turkish, Greek, Armenian and French words in the streets of Alexandria. Not only around Amoud el Sawari, Qom al Shukafa, or in Anfushi. We grasp the whispers of Cavafy in the Corniche. They are like the voice of History, the voices of all of us. Who is not willing to answer that he, too, was there, in Alexandria?

BEST DESTINATION
When it comes to luxurious royal environment, all routes lead to as Salamlek Montaza. With the wall and ceiling paintings, the vicinity of the Montaza Palace itself, the royal railway station, the beauty of the gardens and the rocks of the beach, Salamlek is definitely a must. Undoubtedly, the best way to feel as a king in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

BEST FISH
For the traditional fish fans, those whose justify their culinary culture thanks to Gamber (shrimps), Barbun (Redfish), Caboria (crabs) and lobsters, the Fish Market looks like Tarabya in Istanbul, Tourkolimano in Athens, Positano in Naples and Cassis in Marseille. This is the place of the international jet set, a fish restaurant with magnificent service, nostalgic music and the most dramatic view over the infinite Corniche of Alexandria.

BEST MEMORIES
Athineos
The name of the patisserie, coffee shop and restaurant on the Corniche, near the Italian Consulate, signifies the origin of the owner: Athenian. A Greek has contributed like this in the Alexandrian art of life of the 30s and 40s. We still find here an extravagant service and exquisite decorative items that may give us a furtive memory of the Alexandrian bourgeoisie of the 30s; are we sure of what we hear as gossip and whisper from the next table? The prices of the cotton, the Stock Market, the maritime news, the New Deal! And the Carter Carnarvon excavations of the Tutankhamun's tomb! Old, vain and arrogant……

BEST ROOF
Cecil
What do you admire from this roof? Turn to the west: Qaytbey castle, the place of the Lighthouse in the Antiquity. Then check the other side: the end of the Eastern Harbour and further on. The Chinese roof garden restaurant is definitely one of the most innovative and recent attractions of the historical hotel that served as British military headquarters during the Second World War. From here Montgomery directed all the North African battle and stopped Rommel in El Alamein. Before climbing to the roof garden, admire and enjoy the traditional artwork lift; not many like this are left by now

Enjoying Your Travels To Spain

Thinking about traveling to Spain? Spain - located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula - continues to be one of the most popular tourist attractions and vacation spots just as much today as it has always been in the past. Maybe you're wondering about where to visit in Spain... Maybe you want to learn more about its history and experience its tremendous influence in European art... Whatever your reasons for wanting to visit are, you're certainly bound to enjoy the rich culture, customs, and history of this country once you've arrived there.

As you can imagine, the architecture of Barcelona, the Holy Monstreat, and the Toledo cathedral make this a popular coordinate. And because this is such a hot travel spot, you're advised to make your airline reservations, hotel reservations, and car rental preparations early - three to four months in advance as a matter of fact - especially when tourism is likely to be high (summer months, holidays, etc.). If you prefer to travel "off-season," - that is, during a time when tourism is low, you may not need to make such early reservations. In the latter case, one month-advanced preparation may suffice.

After you've made your reservations, you can fulfill the rest of your time preparing for everything that Spain has to offer. One of the ways that you can do that is by taking a local trip to your favorite library and perusing the immense number of books about Spain. By doing this, you can prepare yourself with the language - perhaps even check out a few books or audio tapes of the language (if available) and additionally learn about Spain's monetary system.

You should always learn about entry requirements, inoculations and other safety information you might need before you go not only to Spain - but also just about anywhere out of the country. But you can also familiarize yourself with the dress of the land and maybe try a few local restaurants that serve Spanish cuisine and play a little of its native music. Of course you can always visit your museum and inquire about the art of the land so that you'll know what to look for once you get there - in particular, the works of El Greco. The idea here is to educate yourself amid all the excitement of visiting a place so rich in culture!

Now some people like spontaneity - a little adventure - the unknown - whatever you want to call it, but some of us like to create an itinerary of things to do and places to go. If you're the "planning type," then you might appreciate taking the time to map out your excursion. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that - seeing that you're visiting a new area, your chances of being bored or going against spontaneity are very slim because Spain has so much to offer to each one of your physical senses!

When and if you create such an itinerary, some of the things that you will want to include of course are things like times to eat, take tours, attend shows, and (our favorite) shop! You might think that this information is hard to find but thanks to the Internet, it really isn't' hard to find at all. If you're working with a travel agent, then your efforts to fill an itinerary should be pretty minimal. But if you're working alone, you can certainly visit the tourist websites of Spain and create your own chart of things to discover and enjoy.

If you're handy with the native language of Spain (which you might have correctly guessed is Spanish), you can certainly read a few online Spanish newspapers to find events and locals that might be of interest to you. Chances are that you'll find a lot more entertainment information by reading a Spanish newspaper than you would if you solely relied on an English interpretation.

Once you've arrived and have found transportation to your hotel, you can inquire further to find even more interests. By this time, you should be speaking a little Spanish so that you can effectively communicate and exchange money with your hotel manager:

Hola! (Hello)
Gracias! (Thank You)
Como te llamas? (What's your name?)
Como estas? (How are you?)
Me llamo... (My name is...)
Soy de United States of America (I'm from the United States of America)
No comprendo (I don't understand)
Por favor (please)
Me numero de telefono es el... (My phone number is [and then the numbers in Spanish [uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco, etc.)

You'll of course want to learn how to ask for other important things like help and/or directions. These are some of the things that will make your trip to Spain more enjoyable - especially as you converse with the natives and experiment with new foods or amusements that you hadn't even planned for! Just remember to pack your camera or your small video cam so that you can record your experience and enjoy them with loved ones back home.

Travel in Spain by Taxi

Traveling by taxi in Spain provides an extremely convenient way to move about and "sight-see." Like traveling by taxi in the United States, minimum charges accompany metered mileage plus a small additional fee for baggage and evening - night - or holiday drives.

Spain Driving Tips

European Union citizens (18 years or older) must own a national driving license to drive in Spain, however non-European Union citizens (18 years or older) also need an International Driving Permit as well. Both types of citizens must have car insurance and identification (license, passport, etc.) by law, is required at all times. Seat belts must be worn by all passengers, and travelers under the age of 14 must be seated in the back seat of the vehicle. When driving, remember that driving positions are reversed to American drivers. You must yield to on-coming traffic from junctures and traffic circles.

Special care should be taken to restrict your driving to the main routes outlined on the most recent maps of this area as other routes may not be appropriate for driving (dirt roads, mountain passes, etc.). In urban areas, you can conveniently refuel your vehicle from unleaded or diesel gas stations. But if you'll drive for long periods of time, it's wise to completely fill your tank, as fuel stations are sparse in rural sections of the country.

Driving speeds are generally restricted to 30 mph to 56 mph, however driving speeds can increase from 62 mph to 75 mph on highways with more than two lanes. Be prepared to pay both variable and fixed toll charges associated with city entry ways.

Traveling in Spain by Car / Car Rental

Because Spain's city centers are so popular, you are cautioned to avoid driving in these areas - especially since the narrow roads in these places can accommodate traffic traveling in one direction only. In addition, parked automobiles make driving extremely difficult. Traveling by car rental is best accomplished by following a current map of its roads - which offer views that are nothing short of amazing.

The Best Beaches in California

Rio Del Mar Beach:
This long, sandy beach is found in the town of Aptos, California, in Santa Cruz County. It features fire rings and a barbecue and picnic area and is a popular summer beach. It is also the home to the "cement boat" a long stranded freighter ship.

Muir Beach:
This beach is less than a half hour drive from San Francisco down scenic Hwy I. It's one of the most glorious regions of Northern California in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Fishing, surfing and campfires are allowed, and there are many coastal trails above the beach for hikers to explore.

Black Sands Beach at Shelter Cove:
This splendid black sand beach is a great place for Whale watching. Located north of the small hamlet of Shelter Cove in a remote region of the "Lost Coast", it's the trailhead for the famous King Range hike. This is a day only beach, so campers will have to head for the mountains.

La Jolla's Beaches:
La Jolla means "the jewel," a fitting name for the precious beaches of La Jolla's coast. Surfers prefer Windansea beach, harbor seals love the Children's Pool, La Jolla Shores is popular for swimming and sunbathing, while the Cove is a favorite snorkeling spot.

Drake's Beach:
This vast stretch of white sand can be found at the Point Reyes National Seashore. The areas strong winds and choppy seas make it at little too violent for most swimmers, but sun worshippers will be delighted by the opportunity to work on their tans in a beautiful California outdoor hotspot.

Caribbean Vacation for the Summer Vacation

For Americans summer has always been the time to go out on holidays and enjoy the beach and the Sun. what could be a better place for that than the Caribbean Islands with their lovely beaches, blue waters and the most pleasant sun. In fact the Caribbean has been such a huge hit with American tourists that today the tourism industry is one of the biggest industries of the place.

There are numerous islands in the Caribbean, but some have been all-time favorites with the tourists. The biggest destinations are the islands of Anguilla, Aruba, Bahamas, Curacao and the British Virgin Islands. A visit to any of these islands will leave you with happy memories, you can hardly ever forget.

Bahamas
Bahamas has always been a very popular destination for the American tourists because of its proximity to the country. Still having a feel of the British colonial days in its buildings and architecture, the Bahamas is also very tropical in spirit. Known for its beautiful beaches pine forests, Bahamas is the perfect place to sit back and relax.

If you are in the Bahamas you should never miss the Rand Nature Center where you get to see the exact recreation of a Lucayan Village, which has everything, from the chieftain's house to the dwelling huts. And if you are a food freak you got to taste the local snacks from a Bahamian straw market.

The Atlantis Resort is located on Paradise Island, near Nassau in the formerly-British Bahamas just a hop from Florida.

The guidebook "Caribbean With Kids" calls the Atlantis on Bahamas "one of the most lavish properties in the entire Caribbean": which is saying something, considering what the region offers.

The Atlantis Bahamas grounds have waterfalls, streams, lagoons filled with sea creatures, underwater viewing areas: with 11 exhibit lagoons and 11 million gallons of water, the resort claims it has the "largest marine habitat in the world".

The world's largest marine habitat, the largest casion in the Bahamas (and the Caribbean), a 15 million dollar marina, lagoons, waterfalls and the underwater ruins of Atlantis itself....Atlantis Bahamas Resort has achieved a distinctive combination of comfort and adventure unlike any other vacation destination.

Atlantis on Bahamas is a deluxe high rise with 2300 rooms and casino situated on the beach. Three towers make up the complex, the Beach, Coral and the newest is Royal Towers.

Anguilla
One of the best family destinations in the Caribbean, Anguilla is famous for its neat beaches many of which are non-commercial. And of course you have the rare opportunity to share the waters with dolphins in Dolphin Fantaseas - one of the biggest attractions of Anguilla. Another place to b e in is Scilly Cay - which provides the perfect setting for barbecue and snorkeling. But the most special thing about Anguilla is her people. They are among the warmest in Caribbean and they go all the way to make you feel comfortable and at home

Aruba
"One Cool Family" is the program organized by the Aruba government to pull in new tourists as well as bring back those who have already been to this lovely island. Such schemes emphasize how important tourism has become in these places and when the government is coming up with such ideas you can rest assure there would be enough effort to provide you with the finest holiday ever.

Apart from the exotic beaches and the clear blue seas other attractions of Aruba include Boca Prins, the perfect destination for dune sailing and land sailing. Of course there are arrangements for the regular activities like snorkeling and scuba diving.

Curacao

Just two and half hour from Miami, Curacao is unlike any other Caribbean island. Of course it has got the beaches and the lovely seas, but this dominion of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is also special because of its diverse mix of history and culture. The experience you have at Curacao is, in that sense unique among the Caribbean islands. If yours is a family which is into adventure this can be the perfect destination as you can head for the Hato Caves to witness the amazing dry land sea caves complete with underground pools, cave drawings and fossils which date back to millions of years. But if you are more interested in just lying back and enjoying your vacation you can do that too while enjoying the best of Curacao culture that has a strong influence of the Dutch.

British Virgin Islands
Once a haven for the pirates, the British Virgin Islands is today the perfect place for diving and snorkeling. It also provides you with the very best opportunities to sail. And if you have been a fan of Stevenson's Treasure Island, you can actually see for yourself from where it was inspired - the Norman Island. With calm waters, swimming is also one of the favorite activities among tourists.

You will need to either stay for a while to take in all the sights, or plan to come back again as the choices are endless, and the memories will last a lifetime

Finding Cheap Travel Online

With airline fares threatening to rise, plus with the cost of going on vacation being in danger of increasing, hard working families can find it increasingly difficult to find affordable solutions. Cheap travel is essential to that much needed break, enabling you to get away from it all without having to worry about the cost. Fortunately, there are still plenty of cheap travel deals to be found online. By using the internet, you can find cheap travel solutions more easily than ever!

Booking on the internet allows travel suppliers to price travel products cheaper due to them not having to pay a middleman. Booking travel online also means nobody has to cover the cost of office space or travel agency advertising which also contributes to the overall cost. If you are ready to do some of the "legwork", online services can offer you cheap travel options. Many travel providers have a feature where you can build your own "Custom Trip". You choose your flight, flight date and time, hotel and rental car all to your own specifications. Some even allow you to purchase tickets for the local tourist attractions. It's fun to be in control of the various aspects of your vacation booking. This way you don't have to deal with travel agents who may place their own interests (commissions) ahead of your best interests. In the end you could end up spending more money than you had intended.

The cheap travel solutions that can be found online can work in a number of ways. Sometimes travel is cheap because it has been stripped down to the basics - no-frills airlines are an example of this, and cheap accommodation solutions are often packaged alongside cheap travel. It's also possible to offer cheap travel options by targeting them at very specific customers, for instance by offering unusual cheap travel destinations which might not appeal to the mass market. This means that you can enjoy cheap travel whilst doing something a little more unusual - there are many cheap travel options which can take you to exotic locations which are relatively undiscovered. Other online companies can offer cheap travel because website bookings can be made at the last minute, enabling them to fill up space on planes and in hotels which would otherwise be left empty (but would still cost their owners money). This means that internet booking can enable you to enjoy cheap travel even if you don't have much time in which to organise your vacation. This makes booking cheap travel online a practical option, considering that booking through traditional travel agencies at the last minute is usually far from a cheap option.

Cheap travel options are there for you on the internet, whether you're looking for a quiet city break by yourself or a family holiday in the sun. You will be pleasantly surprised at the cheap travel options that can be found online. You no longer have to worry about the costs of a vacation, thanks to the plethora of cheap travel options available to you on the internet.

Visiting Europe? Keep these 6 tips in mind!

Travelling to Europe can be a wonderful and life-changing experience, but many people don't enjoy it the way they could and should because of the little annoyances that pop up during the trip.
Here are a few tips to ensure you can make the most of your travel through Europe:

1. Instead of taking a taxi to your hotel it might be a lot better to share an airport shuttle with a few other travellers. Airport taxis are usually more expensive and some unscrupulous drivers will take side routes or even mess with the meter just to get more money out of your pocket.
With an airport shuttle you save money and you don't have to worry about directions or finding the hotel; plus, you can get picked up again at the end of your stay and dropped off at the airport.
2. Take your time when travelling! Some people go on vacation doing a speed tour of every city and location they can think of, and this really is not the way to travel anywhere. Travelling this way will only exhaust you and you won't get to enjoy each city the way you should.
Remember this: it's good to plan ahead but don't stick to it if you feel that you haven't spent enough time somewhere. It's better to go back another time and pick up where you left off than to go home tired and disappointed with the experience.
3. Are you sure you have enough time to visit all the places you want? Make sure that you reserve 2 or 3 days for each location and half a day or a full day for travelling from one place to another.
Given this reasoning for a 10 day trip you should plan to visit 3 or 4 places at the most, and a 15 day trip would be suitable for 6 destinations.
It is also helpful if you plan ahead for a route that will take you less time to travel from destination to destination - saving on travel time will give you more time to do other things.
4. Rent a car or go by train? Both options have pros and cons, so it's worth thinking which is suitable for you.
Renting a car can give you freedom that a train can't: for example in France there are a lot of vineyards that offer free wine tasting or dairy farms with free cheese tastings. Just pop out of the car and enjoy!
On the other hand, trains are best when you are short on time and money - unlike the United States, train fares are cheaper here and the distances are not that great. Also, if you stick to major cities you'll most likely get there faster than in a car. If you plan on visiting smaller towns or even villages chances are that a train runs through there, so going by rail is always a good choice!
5. Gas Prices - if renting a car you should also be aware of the higher gas prices in Europe. While the average price per gallon in the United States is hovering around $2.50 in Europe you won't find it cheaper than $4 per gallon, and that's at best. Some European countries have it at around $7 per gallon.
That train ride sounds better and better, huh?
6. Bring batteries and power adapters - if you're from Asia or the United States be sure to bring batteries and power adapters for every electronic device that you have with you.
Although you can find them in Europe too, they are cheaper in your country and you wouldn't want your camcorder dying on you when you really need it!
Keep these tips in mind and your trip to Europe will be the best one in your life!

Planning a Vacation? How about Disneyland!

After working hard all year long, everyone deserves a vacation to relieve all the stress and to enjoy time with friends and family. This is why it's important to choose a destination that will fulfill all expectations...Disneyland!

As many go on holiday with family, it is essential that there is something to enjoy for all members of the family, and this is certainly the case at Disneyland. Surprises are always welcomed, but if you have children and you decide to spend your vacation in a city that has nothing fun to offer them, then the surprise turns into a nightmare. Going away from friends, even if for a week, seems to children something that requires an effort, so try and make then want that vacation by offering them exciting with plenty of things to do, things that can combine education and pleasure.

The choice of Disneyland vacation destinations is entirely yours. Depending upon a number of factors you may choose to visit Disneyland in Paris, Florida, California, or Tokyo. This will depend on how far you are willing to travel, your vacation budget, and if there are any other attractions that you may wish to visit whilst there. All offer great features for kids and adults to enjoy, and there is always plenty going on at all times of the day to ensure that no-one gets bored.

Maybe Disneyland isn't for you, but of course there are wonderful places to visit all around the world. If budget allows it, you can make a trip around the world to visit the seven world's wonders, which will be something that you will never forget. The Pyramids for instance are mysterious buildings, dated since the ancient Egyptians, enclosing a technology and architecture that can hardly be matched even in today's world. Go and walk through these world wonders to try and understand the mystery, to see for yourself the simplicity of the people and the splendor of the country.

Vacation can simply be spent at home also. We can just relax and catch up on lost sleep if we feel too exhausted to travel. Meeting friends, having barbecues, sitting by the pool and playing with children will make us forget the hard year that passed. However, make sure one of your vacations is spent at Disneyland; it really is a "must-do" vacation that shouldn't be missed.

Finding The Best Deals In Hotels

When it comes to choosing a hotel for your vacation, it often becomes an issue of low cost and convenient location. More often than not, particularly when traveling to major tourist areas with popular attractions, the closer the lodging is to the destination or attraction, the more expensive it will be. That is why the best way to save money on lodging is to stay in an outlying area.

Unfortunately, this might mean that you will spend more time driving to your destinations, which inevitably means more money spent on gasoline. It is important to asses all of the factors in order to make sure that staying in more distant hotel will really cost you less money.

There are several ways to save money on lodging without compromising the quality of your accommodations. For example, paying for a membership in AAA or a similar auto club also provides you with discounts on hotel rooms, as does being a member of the military or being a senior citizen. When booking a hotel room, make sure you ask about discounts that may be available.

Another tip for finding lower cost lodging is to try shopping early for your hotel room. Often, hotels will reserve a block of lower-priced rooms, available on a first come, first serve basis. Getting the best lodging deal is often based on timing and planning ahead.

Saving money on a hotel room means next to nothing if the place is a pigsty, or unsafe. Shopping for a budget hotel does not mean you have to settle for a hotel that is dirty, poorly run or in a dangerous area.

Fortunately, the Internet makes it so easy to find great deals on quality budget hotels. The Internet cuts the time it takes to research lodging down to a fraction of what it used to take.

Most hotels, even budget properties, have websites and feature photos of the property, rooms, and the surrounding area. It has never been easier to research the lodging that you are considering, especially if you have never stayed there before.

Don’t forget to research the area in which the hotel is located also. Be sure to check out things like restaurants and attractions within walking distance of the hotel. Amenities, especially on vacation, are important.

On the Internet there are a number of review sites available where those who have stayed in various hotels can share their experiences and their opinions of the hotels. These review sites are invaluable for travelers, especially if you are going to a place for the first time.

In addition, the Internet hosts a number of travel web sites where travelers and tourists can locate and compare lodging based on their particular need, such as for their individual dates of stay and destinations. These web sites provide several ways to search, including distance from an attraction, price, and star level. The only thing that you need to bear in mind when using such a web site is that comparison web sites only showcase properties that pay a fee, so using a particular site does not necessarily ensure the best price for your trip. For locating the best deals online, it is best to refer to several web sites in order to get a real idea of the lowest prices available

How To Choose Your Best Travel Destination

If you are planning to take a vacation, be sure to know what you really like to do, this will make your trip more meaningful. Mostly, travelers go for a trip that their friends recommend, but is it what they really want? It's never too early to plan and know what your heart desires.

It's nice to ask yourself these questions before starting to plan your vacation; do I want to relax? Do I want adventure or a learning experience? Do I want to get away from my job? Once you know the answers to these questions, then you are ready to plan your trip.

Vacations are needed for our emotional, physical and mental balance. Vacations give a person a chance to relax, renew his energy, and free him from his daily routine. Vacations could be far away or close to home. Wherever the vacation may be, it does the same thing. It is the satisfaction that is more important than the destination.

Generally, there are some different types of travel according to activities involved. Here are some of them:

1. Responsible Travel. Traveling doesn't always have to be self-serving. With responsible travel, one could have enjoyment as much as respecting the local environment and the people.

2. Rediscovering nature. Rediscovering travel is all about nature and everything in it. It revitalizes the soul while smelling and feeling nature.

3. Tribal cultures. In today's world of high technology, it is wise to experience the simpler life of the tribal people who live close to nature in the same way for the past thousands of years.

4. Responsible Diving. Diving not only let travelers appreciate what is down the sea but also making the traveler more aware of the conservation effort.

The country one is planning to travel to also leaves a great mark on the traveler's diary. Here are some of the most popular destinations today:

1. Thailand. Thailand is also known as Siam. It is an Asian country bounded by Burma, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Behind the back draft of Thailand's jungles of bamboo, rubber trees and vines are the Five-star hotels of modern conveniences. In some parts of the country, elephants are still being use to lift timbers and buffalos are still being use in farming.

2. China. China is now the second largest country and fastest growing economy in the world. Most parts of China are still unexplored by tourist; however, the eastern portion is now popular to western tourist. First class hotels now offer highest class of amenities and dozens are still being built/

3. Italy. Italy is a boot-like shape country bounded by Switzerland, Austria, France, and Slovenia. The main attraction of Italy is St. Peter's Square where the Pope resides.

4. Caribbean. Caribbean is an archipelago of islands, 2000 square miles across. Most of the islands are plateaus and eruptions of underlying mountain systems. It has nice beaches of crushed coral and white or pink sand and the water at the shore is a deep blue.

The success of any vacation will not depend by how much the traveler spent or its destination. It is how the traveler enjoyed it and how he was able to achieve his primary goal of "getting away from it all."

Kenya The Land Where Safari Was Born

As a child, Africa fascinated me - a land where the wild and exotic animals of storybooks and zoos roamed free on the plains. And where Kenya was always the quintessential home of the safari.

Many visits later I'm no less enthralled by this region of dramatic contrasts, and remarkable wildlife amid stunningly beautiful and varied landscapes that are still unencumbered by the trappings of man. And little compares to nights filled with the primal sounds of the bush - the hoots and laughs of hyenas, the grumble of distant lions and the snorts of a hippo.

Kenya, the land where safari was born, is also known as the cradle of mankind - evidence of some of the earliest human settlements has been found here, suggesting that it was the birthplace of humanity from which descendents moved out to populate the world. However, it's the boundless wilderness and big game of this region that has long attracted adventure seekers from all over the globe. No other African country can boast such an incredible range of scenery, unique geographical features and species.

A safari in Kenya is an extraordinary holiday for any wildlife lover, no matter your budget or the level of adventure you're looking for. There's no end of things to explore; from the highlands of central Kenya to the great Rift valley; from the elephants of Amboseli wallowing in a small watering hole, to the vast shores of Lake Victoria, the second largest lake in the world; and from the spectacular views of Africa's highest point, Mount Kilimanjaro, down to a coast of shimmering white sands along the Indian Ocean.

Soak up the wonders of nature while camping under the stars out in the bush, hundreds of miles away from civilization, or relax in luxury at one of the lodges scattered throughout the many game reserves and national parks of this magical country.

Whether you're walking, driving, or even bobbing your way across the plains atop a camel, you'll discover the scents, sounds, and footprints of the bush, as you enjoy the sight of a hyena at full gallop, weaving behind the adrenaline-powered run of a gazelle, or a mighty battle as buffalo bulls fight over territory.

If you venture on a Kenyan safari during July or August, perhaps the best way to check out the wildlife is by hot air balloon. Few places offer a better vantage point from which to witness the amazing phenomenon that is the annual wildebeest migration across the plains of the Maasai Mara, when millions of hooves thunder northwards in search of sweeter grazing during the drier months in the south.

The Maasai Mara Reserve, 200 sq miles of rolling hills, woods and acacia trees watered by the Mara and Talek rivers, opens onto the Serengeti plains of Tanzania. Home to the famously independent and traditional herdsmen, no trip to Kenya would be complete without a visit to Masai Mara. They regard themselves not just as residents of this area but as much a part of the life of the land, as the land is part of their lives.

A visit to Kenya is a veritable life-changing experience filled with an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, zebras, black rhino, lions, leopards and various antelope. One visit alone will be enough to make you understand Earnest Hemmingway's words, "unknowable, unimaginable, unbelievable... and completely unforgettable."

When Looking For New Orleans Hotels Try The Bienville House

There are many New Orleans Hotels but for a Boutique Hotel in the very heart of New Orleans there is one that holds a higher standard, The Bienville House on the edge of the French Quarter. It is a very distinctive property with style and grace.

The Bienville House has all of the unique elegance of a French Quarter Manor. A crystal blue pool is surrounded by a flagstone courtyard and is overlooked by many of the room's wrought iron balconies. There are four sundecks for you to relax and savor the ambience.

This lovely hotel started as a grain warehouse but it has gone through many manifestations since then to become the boutique hotel it is today.

In the beginning it was Planter's Rice Mill, then Thompson's Rice Mill and Southern Syrup Manufacturing. Then, in 1985, the building was completely transformed into the North American Hotel. The original advertising stated it was a delightful summer residence for Ladies and Gentlemen. Unfortunately the hotels owners went their separate ways and the building was divided into a boarder's hotel and a fire house. Then it was converted to 20 luxury apartments and started the rival of Decatur Street. In 1972, after surviving a fire from across the street, it was purchased by the Monteleone Family.

The location of the Bienville hotel on Decatur Street mixes the old and new of the charming French Quarter. With its lovely wrought iron balconies this intimate property is the closest to the French Quarter and therefore many attractions are close by. Some of them include Aquarium of the Americas, Canal Place Shopping Center (including Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers), Woldenberg Park, IMAX Theater and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. From this New Orleans hotel you can be spellbound by the stars at the Hard Rock Café while still enjoying the historic French quarter with it's many famous eateries and scenery.

From this splendid location you can find antique shops, New Orleans's signature Jazz Clubs, famous restaurants, beautiful historic buildings, voodoo shops, museums, the wharf and more. Just blocks from the exciting 24 hour Bourbon Street, you can find spectacular antiques and art galleries on Royal Street.

AAA has awarded it the coveted Three Diamond title and the Bienville is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. This boutique hotel consistently works hard to go beyond the standards that are demanded of that title.

They have a restaurant, the Louisiana Heritage Café that also serves as a school of cooking. In its casual setting it offers seafood, pasta, soup and salads in the New Orleans tradition. Some of Chef Faroldi's dishes include Seafood Beignets with Remoulade Sauce, Blackened Catfish topped with Crawfish Etouffée and the famous “Rajun Cajun” Omelets. It is located on the first floor of the hotel and serves three meals a day.

The culinary lessons at the Louisiana Heritage Café can be for individuals or groups. Anyone can attend these lessons. The delicious fare is typically Cajun and Creole and while the chef is preparing the dishes he offers historic stories that will compliment his presentation.

For the business person Bienville House Hotel has a charming space for small meetings or parties for up to 100 guests. In the board room, which will hold 12, you can see the historic roots of this New Orleans Hotel in the exposed brick from the 1800's. Within this board room you will find all of the amenities, like a wireless internet, and a wide range of AV equipment. The Vieux Carre room has 1,318 square feet available for larger meetings. All catering needs will be met by the staff at the Louisiana Heritage Café.

After your business meetings, the location of the Bienville House will delight your fellow attendees. Airline Travel Lingo

With airline travel increasing in record numbers, more people are experiencing the frustration of understanding the airlines industry language, and leaving them feeling that they need an interpreter for the travel information they're receiving from the airline industry! It seems that air companies think that every individual that flies should have to understand all that travel Jargon they place on their flight reservations, and maybe it's about time we figure out what they're talking about, because it's costing you money and valuable time!

Once you learn all the airlines travel terms, you won't be dependent on your local travel agent anymore, and he/she won't be able to collect all the wonderful service fees from you for being your traveling interpreter.

The price of your travel flight is based on many intricate components that the airlines reservations department implement, not to purposely confuse you, but to formulate their airfares and determine what they need to charge each passenger for all flights taken.

Now if you already know most of these airlines flight terms, then that's ok. However, there are many people that are new to traveling, and are now beginning to use online air suppliers to capitalize on the great deals they offer. But when you're making that reservation, you want to understand why the flight you selected is so cheap, and what are the reasons for the low pricing.

Misunderstanding in Airline Terms can cost you more money!

Most of the airlines service terms you will come across will play a big factor on whether you pay an expensive price for you ticket, or getting the discounted travel deals you're looking for in the first place. I will explain the most common industry terms that many people get confused about:

Nonstop versus Direct or Through Service: Don't get this one confused, because many airline companies don't explain this properly. Nonstop means exactly that, and most travelers want these flights, so they book-up quickly. You fly from your origin and land at your desired destination without any stops in between.

Direct or Through Service: This can get a little confusing to many individuals. The aircraft even though is en route directly to your destination, it may be making some routine stops on the way, and all passengers must remain on the plane at that time. There are many times when you print your ticket that it will not list the cities that it will be landing in, so it is always wise to investigate a little further, and see how long the stop is going to be in each individual city.

Connecting Flight: When you're on this type of service flight, now this is treated differently than the other services above. With this type of flight the plane travels from one city to another, however, the passengers must change aircrafts at some point between the origin city and the destination city.

On-line Connections: This is when you change an aircraft but continue to fly with the same carrier. So if you're flying form Los Angeles to New York on American Airlines. If you make a stop for example in Denver, you will change planes at that airport, but with the same American Airline carrier.

Interline Connection: This is when you as a passenger changes airplanes, but instead of boarding the same company plane you will be on a different airline. For this example, you're flying from Seattle, Washington en route to San Antonio, Texas. If you were on a United flight, you will have a stop in a city in-between your origin and destination, and let say you have to get on an American carrier to continue your journey. The main reason for this is that the particular airline company may not be flying into certain cities due to particular business reasons, so then they share with competing airline business companies.

Open Jaw: No it's not when you see the price of your ticket and your jaw drops. This trip is one in which you depart out of one city, and later return from another city. For example: you fly from San Diego, California to New York City, and then return back home from the city of Boston back to San Diego. This can dramatically increase your airline ticket, so if you're looking to visit a family member in another city that you arrived in, and then depart out of another city where your families live, then carefully check and make sure you understand this term.

Consolidators: A consolidator can be your friend if you understand how they work. Simply put, they purchase tickets from an airline at a rate less than the tariff, with the intention of reselling the tickets to either you the public or travel agencies. They buy tickets in bulk from air carrier companies, and therefore offer substantial savings. If you happen to be wondering what a tariff is, it's basically set pricing, rules, and regulations all put in place by authorized organizations in the airline industry.

Lets talk types of Fares! If you're searching for fares online, you will come across a list of different terminologies for your ticket, and it will reflect on the price you end up paying. The airlines distinguish certain fare prices by the terms normal or restricted.

Normal Fares: A normal fare is first class, business class, and economy. These have no restrictions such as advanced reservation requirements or minimum stay stipulations. Such flights are valid for one year from the date of the first flight and can be extended if not used within that period.

Restricted Excursion and Discounted Fares: These have certain restrictions, and that is why they are cheaper to purchase. They're sold with a number of conditions attached, which most require advanced reservations, and there is normally a minimum and sometimes a maximum stay requirement. Travel dates are pre-determined, and any changes in most cases are subject to a penalty, or at times you can't make any changes at all! Airlines limit the number of seats at these fares to encourage travelers to book early.

With an understanding how the air travel industry communicates, and how they determine a flight schedule and pricing, you will eventually be able to speak their language, prevent air lingo confusion, and obtain the best flight itinerary and price with this new knowledge!

10 Romantic Honeymoon & Holiday Destinations

Sure, anywhere is romantic with the one you love, but some destinations just cry romance. Some of my favorites are:

1.Paris – What's not to love about the "City of Lights"? The city's architecture, parks, and monuments are beautiful any time of year. Plus, it's next to impossible to get a bad meal in this town. Add dozens of interesting museums, the picturesque Seine River, some of the world's best shopping, and that Paris charm, and you've got a winner.

2.New York City in December – New York City is interesting any time of year, but in December, when the city is decked out for the holidays, it's magical. The department windows feature charming holiday vignettes, the tree at Rockefeller Center glistens, ice skaters glide through Central Park, and the city sparkles with holiday lights.

3.California Wine Country – Just north of San Francisco, California's wine country is a world away from the bustle of the city. Many of the region's wine estates welcome visitors for tastings and tours, and the area boasts dozens of small and interesting bed and breakfast inns, many with views of the vineyards. Napa and Sonoma Counties are home to a surprising number of excellent restaurants, which make use of the bountiful local produce and vintages.

4.Tuscany – Speaking of wine country, consider a visit to one of the original wine countries – Tuscany. The rolling hills, just outside of Florence in central Italy, are home to hundreds of small wineries as well as picturesque stone farmhouses and casually elegant eateries.

5.Tahiti – These islands have captivated travelers since the days of Paul Gauguin. Explore the French flavor of Papeete or venture to one of the smaller islands, such as Bora Bora or Moorea. You can even stay in a private cottage built on stilts over the calm Tahitian lagoon. The friendliness and welcoming nature of the Tahitian people is legendary.

6.Hawaii – A little closer to home, but no less romantic, the Hawaiian Islands combine American customs with Polynesian culture. Add beautiful beaches, Trade Wind breezes, lilting island music, and dramatic volcanoes for a one-of-a-kind experience.

7.A Castle in Ireland – Spending your honeymoon in a historic Irish castle is the stuff of which dreams are made. Consider a stay at the elegant stone fortress, Dromoland Castle, which hosts many of Ireland's state visitors, or the five-star Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galaway, with its rolling hills, championship golf course, and gourmet dining.

8.Bed and Breakfasts in New England – The New England countryside abounds in small, historic bed and breakfast inns and the region's scenery is enchanting any time of year – from the legendary fall foliage to the sparkling summer seashores. Explore the region's many parks and hiking trails; shop for antiques and homemade crafts in unique village stores; or sample fresh-from-the-sea lobsters, clams, and other seafood delights.

9.Turks and Caicos Islands – Just an hour's flight away from south Florida, these islands offer some of the world's most beautiful stretches of white sand beach. Plus, at least at this writing, they are much less developed than other Caribbean island resorts. In addition to beach activities, you can explore the islands' coral reefs, try your luck at one of the small island casinos, or dine seaside on fresh conch.

10.A Greek Island – From Mykonos to Corfu, from Crete to Santorini, the Greek Islands enchant with crystal clear water, simple and deliciously prepared food, white-washed buildings, and innate Greek friendliness. Plus, accommodations, food, and fun on the islands are surprisingly affordable.

Dream Vacation in Florida and its Cheap

Florida seems to be the place we choose whenever we travel for a number of reasons. Maybe you have a certain destination you love, and like us, want to venture out and try new vacation spots.

So, without further ado, here are our reasons we love traveling to the best Florida beaches & you will too…

Florida has some of the best beaches in the world. You have an array of places to choose from that will provide you different activities, beauty, and fun each time you go. Whether you go to the Gulfcoast of Florida, the Atlantic Coast, or The Keys, you will get everything you want and need out of your trip. Plus, if you get bored or tired of one coast, which probably won't happen, try the other coast. The Keys are one vacation spot you must visit at least once.

Perfect for anyone. Whether you are a family taking your children, an older couple taking time together, a group traveling with friends, a student wanting to party on spring break, or a couple wanting to find romance, Florida will offer it all.

Orlando and Disney World. Who doesn't want to visit this magical place? With so many attractions to choose from and things to do in Orlando Florida, you can't go wrong. There is shopping, adventure, romance, great food, entertainment, and everything you can imagine from a Disney extravaganza.

Variety. Again, if you are looking for multiple vacation ideas, Florida is your spot. There are plenty of things to do in Florida. This ranges from relaxing on the beautiful beaches, sunsets, fishing from piers, driving down the A1A highway, visiting some of the most luxurious spots in the world (like Palm Beach), shopping that will have your heads and wallets spinning for weeks, boating, jet skis, other water activities, golfing, and more. Enjoy great food, entertainment, nightlife, gorgeous architecture, history, people, and so much more.

The Weather. The weather is great. Yes, there are hurricanes and you should plan your vacation wisely. This is typically between August and October, however we have been seeing a string of hurricanes beginning earlier in the summer. Otherwise, you will receive weather that is awesome. Excellent fun and sun!

You have many options on where to stay and how to get there. Stay in a beachfront condo or home instead of a hotel. Venture off into the woods in one of Florida's great campgrounds or rent a houseboat for the week. Florida is fairly convenient for everyone for flying and perhaps even driving (depending on what part of country/world you live). We always suggest, and do ourselves, fly down because you get there quicker, and rent a cool car for your vacation. You will have fun touring around town and exploring.

This leads us into our favorite reason… Cost. Traveling to Florida is quite inexpensive. It can be as luxurious as you want, but if you are looking for an affordable vacation, Florida provides that too. If you are like us and on a budget, taking a vacation is something you must plan ahead and save for. Plus, you want to be able to enjoy and do everything possible. If you worry about money the whole time, your vacation becomes less relaxing and stressful. Don't let that happen. If you can't afford to visit an exotic island this year, don't fret, go to Florida and have a wonderful time!!!

Next Free Airline Ticket Using Travel Reward Credit Card

The best strategies for getting that next free airline ticket with the help of your airline rewards or frequent flyer travel reward credit cards boil down to seeking out all the incentives that have been created for specific airlines and their partners, including those provided by your airline rewards credit card issuer.

The quickest route to free travel is to fly as often as possible and charge the tickets on your airline rewards credit card since this can potentially generate tens of thousands of miles in a year. Leisure travelers can take advantage of everyday spending opportunities such as charging groceries, gasoline and setting up automatic recurring payments on their card to add up their miles.
The Immediate Action Plan Enroll into United Mileage Plus Program - 15,000 - 20,000 Bonus Miles. Apply once a month, three month in the row - 45,000 - 60,000 miles for each adult member of the family - http://www.cardoffers.com/manage/track/e.asp?ID=100156757

Use United Mileage Plus Card to purchase Charter One MasterCard Gift Cards - $1,500 per household per month. This transaction is a purchase and not a cash advance.

Purchase money order with this Gift Card and make mortgage, car or any other payments.

It takes 50,000 frequent flyer points to fly to Europe. You can earn them in less then 6 month and save up to $1500 per ticket.

Frequent Flyer Basics

The frequent flyer program (FFP) is an incentive program operated by an airline to reward customers for their continued loyalty. As a traveler, you earn free miles for the miles that you fly on a particular airline. The concept behind frequent flyer programs is that the airlines want their passengers to become lifetime customers. It is much more costly for the airlines to get new customers than it is to retain the ones they already have. So how do they reward you? The more frequently you fly with them, the greater your awards.
Your frequent flyer miles reside in your account; much like your dollars in the bank. They accumulate as you travel, although unfortunately they don't earn interest. At this time, most of the larger domestic airlines use a fairly uniform policy: mileage does not expire, but there must be some activity in your account once every three years. The airlines may change their mileage expiration policies, so you should read their most current guidelines. When the mileage total reaches a certain amount, you can "redeem" them for an award, usually air travel.

Managing Miles

If the ticket would cost less than $300, you're probably better off buying it outright than using your miles. Frequent-flier miles typically expire after three years of inactivity.

Convert Miles

Points.com lets you take all your orphan miles or points from participating plans and consolidate them into one of your own choosing. Points.com allows 3,600 different exchanges for airline miles, hotel stays, free flowers, Starbucks coffee and gift certificates at Barneys New York, Crate & Barrel and 180 other retailers. Company charges $5.95 per individual transaction, or $19.95 for a year. The average exchange ratio at Points.com is just under 1.7-to-1, critics claim it is far more costly.

Convert miles to cash:

You can turn extra miles and points into cash via of mileage brokers. Just keep in mind airline rules prohibit such conversions. As the brokers on Dallas-based MrMileage.com clearly state on their Web site, "It's not against the law for you to sell your frequent flyer miles or awards, but it is against airline policy." MrMileage.com pays 1.5 cents per mile for the first 25,000 miles, or $375. Terms aren't posted on the site, but you can call a toll-free number.
